Membership Fees (R2,155.00 incl. VAT)
All new and lapsed memberships are subject to a R500.00 registration fee.
Completing an online membership application and accepting the Terms and Conditions contained therein, as well as any additional Terms and Conditions
available on the website, signing and submitting the code of ethics and indemnity form is deemed to be a legally binding contract.
Once a membership application has been processed, a tax invoice issued and uploaded to your profile on the website, you are legally obliged to pay the
membership fee.
The Institute has the legal right, as well as an obligation to its members in good standing to take any and all steps to recover outstanding fees. These
steps will include, but are not limited to, employing the services of a debt collector and sharing this information with the credit bureau.
Membership Application Process
- Register as a user on the website via MEMBERSHIP / BECOME A MEMBER
- Log on using your registered email address and supplied password
- Select Apply for Membership under MEMBER AREA
- Complete all 5 pages of the application form and click SUBMIT
- The pro forma invoice for the REGISTRATION FEE will automatically be generated
- Pay REGISTRATION FEE
- Download and sign the INDEMNITY FORM and CODE OF ETHICS
- Fax indemnity form and code of ethics or scan and email to the Institute

- Fax/email copies of any certificates or degrees noted on your application to the Institute
- Once the electronic application, registration fee and signed forms are received, we will begin to process your application.
- We will proceed with the criminal, credit, qualification and employment verification checks
- The turnaround time on these verifications is highly dependent on the accuracy of the information provided in your application form
- A membership invoice will be uploaded to your profile on the website. Log in with your password and email address to access the invoice
- Fax/email proof of payment to the Institute
- When we receive notification of the aforementioned verifications and if no further information is required, your application is sent for Accreditation
- When we receive payment of the membership fee, your membership will then be activated, your accreditation level assigned and you will have full access to the
resources on the website
Renewal Policy / Procedure
- Membership to the institute is renewable on an annual basis.
- Renewals can be submitted online from 3 months in advance as per the renewal notices sent out once a month for 3 months.
- If the membership has not been renewed by the indicated expiry date the membership automatically expires.
- 60 days after the indicated expiry date the membership is automatically deleted.
- Should you wish to continue with membership after this date you will be required to reapply and pay the registration fee.
- The renewal process is detailed in all of the notifications sent out. If you do not renew your membership online no renewal invoice can be
processed.
- Members are given a total of 5 months to renew their membership online.
Terms and Conditions of Membership
Receipt of a membership application by our offices is taken as confirmation that you have read, understood and
accepted the Terms and Conditions of membership.
- New and lapsed memberships are subject to a REGISTRATION FEE and a proforma invoice will be automatically generated on receipt of an electronic
application.
- A tax invoice for the full membership fee will be issued upon receipt of the registration fee, Code of Ethics and Indemnity form. This invoice will be
uploaded to the website and the applicant will be notified via email.

- Cancellations:
- Cancellations will only be accepted in writing
- Cancellation requests must be received within 7 days of the original application date. i.e. The date on which we receive the online application
irrespective of whether the required Code of Ethics and Indemnity Form have been submitted.
- Non payment of an invoice will NOT be accepted as a cancellation of a membership application
- You acknowledge that membership to the Institute is on an individual basis only and as such you are personally responsible for ensuring the payment of
all monies due the Compliance Institute and will be held personally liable for non payment of any and all invoices issued in your name
- Membership fees are revised annually and will be communicated to members in writing
- Membership Fees not received within the stipulated time frame will result in the Outstanding Fees clause of the
Finance Policy being enforced
- No refund will be made on resignation for subscription payments received
- Rates are inclusive of VAT, which is payable on all services directed from South Africa
- Privileges of membership are detailed in 'Benefits'
- The membership year begins on the first day of the month of original application and runs for 12 months
- Membership is renewable annually via the online 'Renew Membership' link under your membership profile
- Expired memberships not renewed within in 60 days of the date of expiry will lapse and shall be deleted from the database.
- Deleted members will be subject to the registration fee upon reapplication
- Terms and Conditions of membership may be revised from time to time and such updates will be posted to the website
- Company, contact and any other details, as provided by you, are held on a central database and are deemed as being true and correct
- It shall be your responsibility to update your information on the website and inform the Compliance Institute SA, in writing, of any changes
viz. change of address, telephone numbers, etc.
- You must keep your password confidential and, in the event that you have compromised such information, we shall not be liable for any loss or damage
suffered by you in any way whatsoever
- You acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by the Compliance Institute SA's Code of Ethics and Standards of
Professional Conduct
- You consent to the Compliance Institute checking individual credit records with any credit reference agency
- You consent to the Compliance Institute SA carrying out identity, fraud prevention and criminal history checks and sharing information
relating to this application through the South African Fraud Prevention Service
- You consent to the Compliance Institute SA carrying out education history checks
- You consent to the Compliance Institute SA carrying out employment reference checks
- You consent to the Compliance Institute SA verifying with the South African Police Service as to whether you have a criminal record
- You confirm that you are aware that there is an annual membership fee and that this will be paid on receipt of a tax invoice from the Institute
- Our website will be the definitive source for updated information
- All intellectual property is owned by or licensed to the Compliance Institute SA, and may not be used without our prior written consent
- In terms of Chapter 3 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, in visiting our website and/or communicating with us by electronic means,
you acknowledge that all agreements, notices, disclosures and other communication sent by us satisfy any legal requirement including and not limited to
the requirement that such communication should be in writing
- Any other communication which you may be sent via the method of communication selected by you on the Membership application form and updated by you
from time to time
- You may not cede, delegate or otherwise transfer any rights or obligations arising from these Terms and Conditions without our prior approval, which
approval will be given at our sole discretion
- Each time you renew your Membership, the version of the Terms and Conditions current at that time will apply
- You hereby acknowledge that you have familiarised yourself with the current Terms and Conditions, which will be displayed on our website
